Psychological Testing
How can psychological testing help?
Psychological assessment is helpful in understanding the strengths and challenges someone may have in their cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning. The psychological assessment process allows for diagnostic clarity and individualized recommendations allowing for parents, teachers, and therapists to provide intervention and accommodations needed to help an individual reach their potential. Your child’s school, pediatrician, mental health provider or a court system may refer you, but a professional referral is not necessary for testing.
What can I expect?
Depending on the presenting concerns, the psychological assessment may include several domains including cognitive, academic, neurodevelopmental and social-emotional functioning. Testing activities can include a variety of questions, puzzles, drawings, and stories as well as some school-like tasks like reading, writing and math.
The assessment process includes an initial intake, during which pertinent historical and familiar information is gathered. Time may also be spent accessing outside records, such as court/legal documents and/or academic records. This is followed by the testing, during which the assessment takes place, and finally a feedback session where results and recommendations will be discussed.
What does testing cost?
The cost for a full assessment is determined by the total number of hours required to complete the full evaluation process from testing time to the results feedback session. The cost of testing varies depending on the battery of tests required. Rough estimates may be determined by participating in a free telephone consultation.
Private pay and out-of-network payments accepted. A partial payment or full payment may be required on the day of testing, with the balance due at your results review appointment.
Out-of-Network Provider
For all insurance plans, I am eligible for reimbursement as an “out-of-network” provider. Many of my clients use insurance to help them obtain reimbursement for a percentage of the amount paid for their session. To find out what your benefits are, call your insurer and ask them what "out-of-network" mental health benefits are available to you. For clients with out-of-network benefits through insurance carriers, I will gladly provide the necessary documentation to meet the insurance company's requirements for reimbursement.
*Payment
Payment for sessions is due at the time of service. Sessions may be paid by cash, check or credit card.
Payments should be made out to Shoreline Psychological Services, LLC.
